Position Summary:
The Feed Mill Manager provides leadership and daily direction to all site employees. Overseeing feed mill operations and product delivery to meet production needs in a safe, efficient, and high-quality manner. This role ensures compliance with quality and regulatory standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Core Responsibilities:
Operations Management
- Direct and assign tasks to production and delivery teams, ensuring processes and procedures are followed.
- Schedule and monitor daily production including coordinating production schedules.
- Oversee maintenance and housekeeping of the facility including continuing a preventative maintenance program and maintaining landscaping and appearance of the facility.
- Direct warehouse and inventory management of production parts, ingredients, vitamins, and drugs.
- Manage financial recordkeeping, including accounts receivable/payable, and general ledger entries.
- Ensure adherence to all EHS, FDA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements for feed mill operations.
- Implement and monitor new standard operating procedures to ensure consistent quality and operational efficiency.
- Perform administrative tasks relevant to plant operations including running plant reports and ordering product when necessary.
Team Leadership
- Manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, training, addressing employee relations issues in consultation with People Operations, performance evaluations, policy implementation, compensation recommendations, and terminations.
- Oversee timesheets and manage time off requests through HRIS system.
- Monitor order fulfillment, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement in efficiency and quality.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers, resolving issues and identifying business growth opportunities.
Additional Responsibilities:

Work Environment:
- Work in varied environments, including temperature-controlled office settings and non-temperature-controlled warehouses or feed mills.
- Occasional domestic travel to company facilities such as feed mills, contract manufacturers, and warehousing sites.
- Attend industry and company events as needed to stay informed about trends, innovations, and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications: Please note that although the following qualifications are preferred, candidates with diverse backgrounds, education, and experiences will be considered for this role.
Education / Training:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Agriculture, or equivalent professional experience.
- Training in leadership, including motivational techniques and conflict resolution.
- Qualified credentials to manufacture, process, pack, or hold safe animal feed per assigned duties.
Relevant Experience:
- 3 – 5 years professional experience in the feed industry.
- 2 – 3 years of leadership experience managing teams.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Familiarity with financial and accounting principles.
- Knowledge of OSHA 1910 standards, FDA, DOT, and GMP regulations.
- Understanding of animal nutrition concepts.
- Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with process flow and computerized batching systems.
Non-Technical Skills:

Licenses / Certification:
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Lift up to 60 lbs. periodically.
- Climb staircases or ladders and work at heights when required.
Safety Requirements:
- Adherence to all company safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Appropriate PPE use, including harnesses, lanyards, ear protection, breathing masks, goggles, and lifting belts, as needed.
- Lead or attend monthly safety meetings to promote and reinforce a culture of safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forklift license.
- Class A CDL license.
- Experience with ERP systems (ex. Bestmix, SAP, Oracle).
