David Crabb, MD

David Crabb, MD brings extensive clinical, research, and academic leadership experience in internal medicine and hepatology. He is the Joseph J. Mamlin Professor of Medicine and Professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Indiana University School of Medicine, and serves as Chief of Internal Medicine at Eskenazi Health.
Dr. Crabb is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and has been involved in alcohol and liver research since the early 1980s. His work has focused on the biological and metabolic effects of alcohol, as well as the genetic and epidemiological factors associated with alcohol use disorders. He has led research across laboratory, animal, and human models, contributing to a deeper understanding of liver disease and its underlying mechanisms.
He has also served as Director of the Indiana Alcohol Research Center, a program funded for more than three decades, and has been involved in national, multi-center research initiatives focused on alcoholic hepatitis and liver injury.
Dr. Crabb earned his medical degree from Indiana University and completed his residency and fellowship at Indiana University Medical Center.
