Coinfections in A Flock Can Be Catastrophic

Eighty-one percent of the birds exhibiting clinical disease symptoms harbor more than one pathogen when sampled through United Animal Health’s PathKinex surveillance program. The disease state, known as co-infection, not only increases the risk of disease, but severity is also compounded when combined with additional stressors, resulting in health and production losses.

Combating Coinfections Requires a Multi-Pronged Approach

Promoting resilience in the face of pathogens and stressors is critical to protecting health and maximizing genetic investment. While there are no silver bullets, using multiple interventions that decouple pathogen synergies may lead to the greatest outcomes. Successful interventions include tools that can:

  • Lower pathogen loads
  • Increase innate immunity
  • Promote gut integrity

Novela ECL, a product from United Animal Health, is designed to address diverse challenge situations while enhancing natural immunity and better preparing birds to face these significant health insults. By supporting the bird’s defense system, Novela ECL helps maintain flock health productively, even in the face of pathogens and stressors.

Novela ECL is available as a feed additive or a water-dispersible product.

For the United States market, we offer OMRI-listed versions of Novela ECL and Novela ECL+.
