United Animal Health has developed multiple base mixes to meet the objectives of sow herds in a cost effective manner. Various options are available depending on environmental issues, economics, co-product availability, and genetics.
For producers using diets with corn and soybean meal we have 4 options. The differences between these products are the amount of phytase enzyme and amino acids contained in the base mix. The phytase enzyme will increase the digestibility of phosphorus in the grain, therefore reducing the amount of inorganic phosphorus in the diet. This, in turn, will reduce the amount of phosphorus in the waste. This technology will be vital with increasing environmental regulation.

A base mix designed for farm mixing of gestating and lactating swine rations. Sow Base AA 80 ECO contains the correct blend of vitamins, trace minerals, amino acids, and the phytase enzyme needed to ensure maximum reproductive performance. Sow Base AA 80 ECO contains increased levels of phytase to reduce the total phosphorus in the manure by maximizing the digestibility of phosphorus in the grain sources. Sow Base AA 80 ECO also contains amino acids to help reduce the amount of soybean meal needed in the diet reducing the amount of nitrogen in the waste.
A base mix designed for farm mixing of gestating and lactating swine diets with ground corn and soybean meal. Sow Base 90 contains the correct blend of vitamins, trace minerals, and the phytase enzyme needed to ensure maximum reproductive performance. Additional amino acids can be added on the farm or incorporated into the base mix.
An add pack designed to be used with a grow/finish base mix to create gestating and lactating swine diets. Sow Pak 45 when combined with a grow/finish base mix will provide equivalent nutrient delivery as the Sow Base 90, giving the correct blend of vitamins and trace minerals needed to ensure maximum reproductive performance. The grow/finish base mix inclusion should be equivalent to the early grower phase. This add pack allows the producer to inventory one base mix and have the flexibility to create all needed diets with minimal effort. Additional amino acids can be added on the farm or incorporated into the add pack.
A micro premix VTM designed for farm mixing gestating and lactating swine diets that contains the correct blend of vitamins, trace minerals, and the phytase enzyme to ensure maximum reproductive performance.
